Does anyone else remember a long time ago when we were warned about refrigerators? It was back in the 1980s. Adults wanted us to be careful. Otherwise, when we were outside playing hide and seek, we might climb into an old, abandoned fridge, not be able to get out, and suffocate in there. It was considered an active threat to our safety.
It no longer seems to be a threat, though. I know I’ve never warned my kid about it. Am I just being a bad parent or did something happen to eliminate the abandoned refrigerators? Maybe it’s like dog poop in the sense that there used to be the constant danger of stepping in dog poop, but that danger is gone now.
I don’t really have much of anything to say about this. It just popped in my head and now I’m curious. Why aren’t fridges frightening anymore?
